Mary Louise Wyatt is a printmaker who lives in Mt. Kembla near Wollongong.

She writes that:

In May 2010 I spent three weeks in Umbria and Tuscany on an art program which included three days working in a centuries old printery.

Amongst the wealth of magnificent art that I saw I was particularly drawn to the frescos. Some were glowing and golden as if they had been painted yesterday, others were faded and peeling from the walls so that they were barely discernible.

I was inspired to develop a series of multi-plate collagraphs based on some of the iconic images in these frescos. I chose the Lily, symbol of purity, and the Book, symbol of wisdom and knowledge, and explored these images through a variety of printmaking techniques including drypoint, stencils and the occasional addition of 23 carat gold leaf.
